Always keenly on the look out for seasonal produce, I spotted this Sweet Stem Cauliflower in my local supermarket and had to try it. It was delicious. Sort of a cross betwtixt cauliflower and tender stem brocolli. It was even nice raw (had to have a nibble whilst the prep was going on!). I fancied a fakeaway this evening so took advantage of trying another recipe from the Slimming World Little Book of Sauces (which is absolutely fab by the way!).
This book really is something I don’t know how I have managed to get so far without, so would absolutely recommend it to anyone following the SW programme or in fact anyone looking for freshly made sauce bases without being either swimming in oil or packed with horrible additives and hidden flours and sugar. Most are easily made with just store cupboard ingredients. A worthwhile investment at just £3.95!
I made the Chow Mein sauce recipe from the book which is just 1.5 syns per portion adding in quorn, kale, peppers, soy beans & the sweet stem cauli, served up with a good portion of Slimming World synfree Salt & Pepper chips. It was so tasty, so much better than a takeaway not to mention so much healthier. Another winner!
